Dead Capo could be the name for a cult B-movie. And
their debut album "Discolo" would be the perfect arrangement
for it. Dead Capo are Javier Adán (guitar),
Javier Díez-Ena (double bass, bass) and Javier
Gallego (drums), and together our cult movie heroes have
concocted 10 songs that mix rock, funk and jazz, all marinated with
a bit of humour.
"Discolo" has brought them to a wide prominence and led
to appearances on concert stages around Spain. They have been named
one of the most original new bands by such magazines as Ruta 66,
Cuadernos de Jazz, Mondo Sonoro and Rock de Lux
(see Press Articles).
Dead Capos members grew up in Madrids Metropolitan area.
They began playing in different bands and it was only in 1995 that
they first got together in the band INSECTO.
To further widen their music horizons the three Javiers started
a new project in 1998, called Dead Capo. As composers, they are
comitted to developing music which extends the traditional language
of rock and jazz.
They persistently question the boundaries of genres and continually
re-examine assumptions about music within each track. The diversity
of their influences is reflected in "Discolo", their debut.
They write ensemble music that makes the listener open their ears.
The band is currently presenting their album in several cities and
also preparing new compositions for 2003.
